Walmart kicks off month of miracles

Every year Walmart associates work hard to raise funds for their local Children’s Miracle Network hospital. Alaska’s Walmart leaders recently visited The Children’s Hospital at Providence to kick off this year’s campaign. The gathering allowed them to prepare and find inspiration for their fundraising efforts. Inspiration was not in short supply for their visit! Walmart leaders had the chance to meet our champion family, along with hospital staff.

Alaska’s Children’s Miracle Network champion Delilah spent 45 days in our Newborn Intensive Care Unit, but you could never tell by how happy and healthy she is now. Her mom Traci and sister Magnolia also came in for the visit. Traci shared their hospital experience and highlighted all the ways that Walmart and other CMNH donors helped them during their time in the hospital.

Delilah was born in the joint base Elmendorf/Richardson hospital and needed to be transported to Providence’s NICU immediately. Our NICU transport team was there when she was born and had her transferred over to the hospital within the hour. Children’s Miracle Network funds recently purchased a new NICU transport isolette to keep babies like Delilah alive during transport. The NICU transport team was there during the kick off to show associates the new piece of equipment they helped fund.

Delilah’s family also benefited from our Child Life Team. Child Life Specialist Michelle was there to talk about her work and her time with Delilah’s family. Her team is funded through Children’s Miracle Network as well. Magnolia and Michelle formed a very special bond while Delilah was in the hospital. They would go and play together so mom Traci could focus on Delilah. Michelle also helped Magnolia understand her sister’s medical treatments. Magnolia often asks her mom to come back and visit Michelle at the hospital!

Thank you to Walmart for making miracles happen for Delilah and her family!
